We urge you to:<\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>Use the LAO\u2019s accurate accounting measures of the revenue available<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>.<\/strong> Under the LAO\u00a0estimates, there\u00a0would be\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>$1.1 billion more of discretionary resources available for\u00a0the 2015-16 state budget than the Governor\u2019s May Revision<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">Adjust Proposition 98 by:<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<ul style=\"\">\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">Moving Child Care funding under Prop 98.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"\"> Prior to 2011 all child care funding (except Stage 1 CalWORKs child care) was funded out of Prop 98.\u00a0 During the recession, child care funding was moved to the general fund.\u00a0 Today Prop 98 has healthier revenues and can sustain child care funding once again.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">Counting additional local property tax revenues towards 98<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"\">, which could reduce the general fund obligation by $400 million dollars.<\/span><span style=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">Reflect additional local revenue<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"\"> schools have received from the dissolution of redevelopment agencies since 2012-13, which could make $125 million available for general fund spending.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>Eliminate \u201caggressive prison spending\u201d<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"> in Governor\u2019s budget, and redirect 73.3 million dollars of savings towards cost-effective population reduction strategies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<ul style=\"\">\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">Repaying loans from state transportation funds<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/BroadcastLinks\/iwEAe-PL6zPp8-gjBlJJAA\" style=\"\"><span style=\"\">using dollars required under Proposition 2 to go toward debt payments<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">,<\/span><span style=\"\"> rather than paying back these loans with General Fund dollars\u00a0<em style=\"\">outside<\/em>\u00a0of Proposition 2, as the Governor proposes. (State policymakers borrowed from these transportation funds in prior years to help close General Fund shortfalls.) This could free up $186 million.<\/span><span style=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul style=\"\">\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>Eliminating unaccountable tax breaks and loopholes.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <span style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\"><strong>Passing revenue that forces corporations to pay what they owe <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5; background-color: initial;\">in property taxes bringing in 9-10 billion dollars of revenue by 2019. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"\"><\/span><span style=\"\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span> <span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">With these changes, there is enough revenue <em style=\"\">right now in the May Revise <\/em>to invest in the programs that Californians depend on:<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<ul style=\"\">\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\">Support children and families in poverty by ending the Maximum Family Grant Rule in the CalWORKs program;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\">Increasing working families\u2019 access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/BroadcastLinks\/3q604vrerr-NZv1YUE53VA\" style=\"\"><span style=\"\">affordable child care<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/BroadcastLinks\/OxQ0hwRKc2hVgRTvDjvD6A\" style=\"\">Boosting cash assistance<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\"> for low-income seniors and people with disabilities on SSI;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\">Moving homeless families into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/BroadcastLinks\/NHn8dAffBQ7DCWaoieRuQg\" style=\"\"><span style=\"\">permanent housing<\/span><\/a>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\">Expanding health care coverage to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/BroadcastLinks\/lHzY5DAFpS-xC48kJYsx3w\" style=\"\"><span style=\"\">undocumented immigrants (SB 4)<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">;<\/span><span style=\"\"> and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span style=\"\">Restoring In-Home Supportive Services hours to keep people with disabilities living with dignity in their homes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <span style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">We can begin to tear down the wall of poverty, and build back a California where everyone has enough to thrive.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">In your Faithful Fridays messages to your elected officials in your home districts, please point to these revenue sources.\u00a0 We can no longer stand by as those who have given up the most to our state&#8217;s fiscal requirements continue to live in desperation due to these cuts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\"><\/span> <span style=\"\">If you are unsure how to Take Action, please to to our web page:<\/span><br \/><span style=\"\"><\/span> <span style=\"\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.churchimpact.org\/take-action.html\" style=\"\">http:\/\/www.churchimpact.org\/take-action.html<span style=\"\"><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\"><\/span> <span style=\"\">Put in your correct information, and the site will take you to your legislator&#8217;s home pages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\"><\/span> <span style=\"\">With all this &#8220;found money&#8221;
