{"id":119,"date":"2017-09-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/calchurches.planetpov.com\/impact\/index.php\/2017\/09\/06\/stand-with-daca-dreamers-and-for-sb-54-to-protect-their-rights\/"},"modified":"2017-09-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-09-06T00:00:00","slug":"stand-with-daca-dreamers-and-for-sb-54-to-protect-their-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/churchimpact.org\/index.php\/2017\/09\/06\/stand-with-daca-dreamers-and-for-sb-54-to-protect-their-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Stand with DACA Dreamers and for SB 54 to protect their rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<span class=\"imgPusher\" style=\"float:left;height:0px\"><\/span><span style=\"display: table;width:auto;position:relative;float:left;max-width:100%;;clear:left;margin-top:0px;*margin-top:0px\"><a><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.churchimpact.org\/\/uploads\/4\/1\/4\/8\/41486323\/iamdaca_orig.jpg?w=1160\" style=\"margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px; border-width:1px;padding:3px; max-width:100%\" alt=\"Picture\" class=\"galleryImageBorder wsite-image\"><\/a><span style=\"display: table-caption; caption-side: bottom; font-size: 90%; margin-top: -10px; margin-bottom: 10px; text-align: center;\" class=\"wsite-caption\"><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"display:block;\"><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Dear Friends,<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><em style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">You shall not oppress a resident alien, you know the heart of an alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.\u00a0 <\/em><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Ex. 23:9<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">After today\u2019s Presidential decision to put DACA \u2013 Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals \u2013 under threat of cancellation, we are called to act.\u00a0 If Congress does not ratify this status protecting young people brought to the USA as children, they will be jeopardizing 800,000 children and adults who have done nothing wrong.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">We are all humans, we are all part of God\u2019s family.\u00a0 We need clear and unambiguous support for people who had no choice in coming here undocumented and who have grown up knowing only the American Dream and working to fulfill it.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">So call Congress and insist they create a humane and fair way for these children to remain, to move toward citizenship, and to be secure along the way.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Call Congress \u2013 <\/span><span style=\"color:rgb(255, 0, 0)\"><strong>202-224-3121<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\"> \u2013 and tell both Senators and your Representative that the long tradition of America as a land of undocumented immigrants must be upheld.\u00a0 Until 1952 you simply did not wait or need papers to enter America.\u00a0 You needed a little money in your pocket and to be disease free. That\u2019s it.\u00a0 You GOT your papers when you entered.\u00a0 We, as people of faith, understand that populations are mobile in hard times or even good \u2013 we were the nation that opened its doors to everyone. That is what America is.
