Economic Justice
California Church IMPACT, as part of the faith coalition in Sacramento and with our secular partners, works to preserve the social safety net for those abandoned by our economy or with needs that the private sector cannot serve. We work for education to help move people up from low-wage work. We advocate for higher minimum wages, for fair taxation for those who have huge institutional resources, and for a just budget that does not sacrifice the poor. We uphold the right of organized labor to bargain collectively for their members’ well being. We advocate for the right of working people to have greater authority over their jobs and working conditions through ownership stakes within any and all businesses.
In conjunction with the California Council of Churches‘ education and outreach on worker ownership of businesses, California Church IMPACT works on enabling legislation to assure that cooperatives and other forms of worker ownership have the security of laws that will enhance their operations and help promote sustainable self sufficiency.
