In particular, Proposition 64 represents a critical opportunity for the faith community to\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">speak out and educate around the need for criminal justice reform.\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">In particular, there are community programs that can better engage young people than incarceration. Many black and brown lives are destroyed because of incarceration and this is an opportunity for the faith community to speak to the moral imperative for supporting Proposition 64.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">It is necessary for congregations and church bodies to develop nonpartisan voter education and empowerment programs that promote responsible, thoughtful civic engagement and help people of faith reflect upon how politics has real life consequences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">On Sunday October 30, 2016, Californians for Responsible Marijuana Reform (CRMR), in partnership with the California Council of Churches IMPACT, will produce a statewide webcast (live and recorded) from Sacramento at St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">The purpose of the live steam is as follows:\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">1)<\/strong><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0to directly engage faith communities across California and meet them where they are \u2013 but especially African American and Latino congregations\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">2)<\/strong><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0help to change the narrative as it pertains to cannabis as an illicit substance and\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">3)<\/strong><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0help to educate faith communities about proposition 64 and ending the war on drugs in minority communities. This event will tie in directly with the CRMR field operation by bringing CRMR\u2019s voter universe into the same space, and encourage voters to mobilize on election day in support of proposition 64.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">We are asking congregations and other groups to do the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\"><\/p>\n<li><strong>Host<\/strong>\u00a0our Faith Event livestream at your congregation and spread the word about it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organize<\/strong>\u00a0a church voter registration drive prior to the registration deadline of October 24, 2016 to ensure that your congregation is 100% registered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Invite<\/strong>\u00a0members of the DPA to your church to speak about Proposition 64 from an educational perspective.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organize\u00a0<\/strong>a nonpartisan voter empowerment and mobilization get-out-the-vote activity for your congregation and community.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Post<\/strong>\u00a0education material about proposition 64 on church bulletin boards and include information in your church\u2019s newsletter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allow<\/strong>\u00a0our volunteers to table at your congregation to solicit volunteers to help in our Get Out the Vote activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Invite<\/strong>\u00a0your congregation to a CRMR phone bank or host a nonpartisan get out the vote phone bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">For More Information about participation, please contact Rick Schlosser (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:rick@calchurches.org\">rick@calchurches.org<\/a><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\/916-508-7797) or Kendra Lewis (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:fundraiserknl@gmail.com\">fundraiserknl@gmail.com<\/a><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">\/916-416-1371).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">Panelists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:rgb(70, 69, 69)\">The Rev.
